Frequently Asked Questions

Which areas do you cover?

The East End of Suffolk County, from our base in East Moriches. Westhampton, Quogue, Hampton Bays, Southampton and Water Mill on the South Fork; Riverhead, Aquebogue, Jamesport and Mattituck on the North Fork; and the hamlets in between. The service areas page has the full list.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Suffolk County electrical licence #70709, and the company is fully insured. A certificate of insurance is available for any job that needs one.

Do I need a permit for an EV charger or a panel?

Yes. A new charger circuit, a panel replacement or a service upgrade needs an electrical permit and an inspection in every town we work in. We include the permit in the quote and handle the paperwork.

Can you give a price over the phone?

For small jobs, often. For panels, chargers, generators and anything involving the service, we look first. The look is free and the quote is in writing.

My panel is 100 amps. Can I add an EV charger?

Sometimes. A 48-amp charger needs a 60-amp circuit, and a 100-amp house with central air and a pool often has nothing to spare. We run a load calculation; if the panel is short, a load-managing charger, a sub-panel or a 200-amp upgrade are the choices, and we will tell you which makes sense.

Do you handle the PSEG Long Island side?

Yes. For service upgrades and overhead repairs we schedule the disconnect and reconnect with PSEG, do the work in that window and get the inspection done so the power comes back on.

What are your hours?

Open 24 hours Monday through Saturday for emergency calls. Estimates and scheduled work happen in normal daytime hours. On Sunday the phone is answered, and we will talk you through anything urgent, but the crew does not go out unless it is unsafe to wait.

What happens in an emergency?

Call. We will tell you what to do while we are on the way. If a wire is down or a tree is on the service line, stay away from it and call PSEG Long Island first (1-800-490-0075); nobody can touch anything energized until the utility has cleared it.

Is it just Andrew, or a crew?

Andrew and a crew of three. Andrew quotes the job and is on site for the work that matters most; the crew lets us run two jobs in a day and still take the emergency call.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes: storefront, office and warehouse lighting, LED retrofits, emergency and exit lighting, EV stations for businesses, barns and farm buildings, and the electrical side of fit-outs.

Do you do the small jobs too?

Yes. Outlets, ceiling fans, dimmers, smoke and carbon-monoxide detectors, doorbells, under-cabinet lights, a circuit for the hot tub. Small jobs are how most customers meet us.
