What We Do

EV Charger Installation, Done Properly

We install Level 2 chargers, the 240-volt kind that fills a battery overnight, for houses, second homes, multi-family buildings and businesses across the East End. Hardwired or plug-in, wall-mounted or on a pedestal by the driveway: Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint, Emporia, Wallbox, or the charger that came with the car. A lot of our EV work is in Westhampton, Quogue and Southampton, where the car lives in a detached garage or at the end of a long gravel drive, and the run is most of the job.

What We Handle

  • Panel capacity. A 48-amp charger needs a 60-amp circuit. Many East End homes with 100-amp service, a pool and central air do not have it to spare. We run a load calculation before quoting; if the panel is short, we tell you whether a load-management charger, a sub-panel or a 200-amp upgrade is the sensible fix.
  • The run. Distance from the panel to the parking spot sets the wire size and most of the cost. Detached garages and gravel driveways need a trench or conduit; we do both.
  • Outdoor placement. Weather-rated enclosure, GFCI protection where the code requires it, an outdoor outlet nearby if you want one, and cable length that reaches the port on your car.
  • Smart-home tie-in. Chargers that schedule off-peak, load-sharing between two cars, and the Wi-Fi or data cabling to make them talk to the house.
  • Commercial stations. Pedestal units for shops, offices and multi-family lots, with the make-ready wiring and the metering the utility asks for.

Permits

Every town on the East End requires an electrical permit and inspection for a new charger circuit; we pull it and meet the inspector. PSEG Long Island has run EV charger and make-ready rebate programs; we will tell you what applies when you call, since the programs change.

Why East West Express Electric

Andrew quotes the job after seeing the panel and the run, so the number is right the first time. One visit for most installs, a licensed electrician on site, and no surprise on the invoice: the quote covers the breaker, wire, charger mounting, permit and inspection.

Common Questions

Which chargers do you install?

Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint, Emporia, Wallbox, or the charger that came with the car. Hardwired or plug-in, wall or pedestal.

Will my panel handle it?

We run a load calculation first. If it will not, a load-managing charger, a sub-panel or a 200-amp upgrade are the options, and we tell you which one makes sense before quoting.

How long does it take?

Most home installs are one visit of a few hours. A long trench to a detached garage, or a panel upgrade done at the same time, adds a day.
